Star Wars: Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina

Edited by Kevin J. Anderson

RECOMMENDED (If your a Star Wars geek like me)

In a word: Fun

Plot:  Short story collection which tells the tales of the aliens who hang out at the Mos Eisley Cantina.  From the cool Bith Band to the strange Wolfman (who was later cut out by Lucas, a sad turn of events) - you learn about quite a few of the beings briefly shown in the Cantina scene from Star Wars: A New Hope.

Thoughts:  Another nice, light read.  I'm a sucker for the Star Wars "Tales" Books (there are also books on the Bounty Hunters shown on the Death Star and the beings seen in Jabba's Palace).  As with most short story collections - this is hit or miss, but there are far more hits than misses here.  Especially good are the tales of the Band (stranded due to the gambling problem of leader), The Hammerhead (a wonderful story, by far my favorite of the book), the Devaronian (the guy that looks like the devil), and the Stormtrooper (who cares which one).  Less successful, but definitely worth the read are the tales of the now deleted Wolfman and the Pipe Smoker.  While telling the tales of the aliens, this book also gives you some insight on life on Tatooine.  If you're a Star Wars fan, this is worth picking up!

If you like this, try reading: Tales from Jabba's Palace and Tales of the Bounty Hunters - both edited by Kevin Anderson.
